How to see abundance around you and make time for yourself? Gratitude practices for nature and opportunities, plus the "Just for Myself" technique from the "Steps of Gratitude" workbook.

Gratitude is a golden thread that weaves the world into a single whole. It is not just an emotion, but a key that unlocks the gate to a deeper understanding of oneself and the universe.
Gratitude is not merely an emotion, but a profound wisdom that reveals the hidden value of everything life bestows upon us. It begins with small things—the ability to notice the moment when the world touches us with warmth, when a gentle breeze brings relief, or when the gaze of a loved one fills the heart with comfort. Gradually, however, gratitude takes root in our thoughts, transforming into a way of perceiving the world that alters the very fabric of reality.
When we focus our attention on what we already have, rather than on what is lacking, our consciousness tunes into a frequency of abundance. The world reveals itself in new colors, and even in trifles, its deep beauty emerges. Just as morning light gradually dispels the darkness of night, gratitude shifts our focus from difficulties to opportunities, from scarcity to the generosity of being.
Its power lies in the fact that it not only changes our thoughts but also affects our well-being. When we give thanks—aloud or silently—our brain responds with a wave of joy, filling us with dopamine and serotonin. This simple act helps lower stress levels, reduce anxiety, and maintain internal balance. One who carries gratitude in their heart feels joy more often and becomes more resilient to the trials fate throws their way.
Yet, the true power of gratitude is revealed in the hardest of times. When dark clouds obscure the horizon, when trials seem too heavy, it is gratitude that helps sustain our inner light. Even in difficult circumstances, there is always something to be thankful for—the support of those nearby, new experiences that temper the spirit, or even the very fact that we have the strength to move on. Gratitude helps us accept reality as it is and find meaning in it, even when the path seems thorny.
Over time, it becomes a natural part of everyday life. Small rituals, such as writing down what we are grateful for or sincerely speaking words of thanks, open the door to a deeper awareness of life. This state not only changes our inner world but also influences our surroundings, filling them with warmth, trust, and harmony.
Gratitude is not just a reaction to the good; it is a choice we make every day, choosing to see the light even where others see only shadows. It is the key that unlocks the door to the fullness of life, turning ordinary days into true blessings.
Part 1. Awakening: The Art of Seeing Abundance
The first step to gratitude is awakening. The world is full of generosity, but it is easy to miss when thoughts are clouded by the mundane.
As the Dalai Lama said: “Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions”.
Happiness is a conscious skill. Awareness of abundance is the ability to find joy in simple things: the play of light on water, a stranger's smile, or the warmth of hands holding us in difficult times. When we value this, we feel fulfilled.
Part 2. Nature as an Eternal Temple
Nature is an inexhaustible source of harmony and peace. As John Muir wrote: “To go to the mountains is to go home; wildness is a necessity”.
Connecting with nature grounds us and helps restore internal balance. Nature teaches us wisdom through its constant changes—from the seasons to the stars.
Part 3. The Neuroscience of Gratitude
Robert Emmons states: “Gratitude blocks toxic emotions, such as envy, resentment, and regret”. It is impossible to feel gratitude and negativity simultaneously.
Research shows that gratitude changes the brain by strengthening neural connections responsible for positive emotions. It also affects the body: breathing becomes freer, and sleep becomes deeper and more healing.
Part 4. Practice: Time "Just for Yourself"
We cannot pour from an empty cup. This section of the workbook focuses on meeting your own needs.
Goal: Learn to allocate time for pleasure and plan activities that bring joy.
Step 1. Creating Joy Lists
Write down without limitations:
- What hobbies would you like to try?
- What activities make you laugh?
- What have you been putting off for a long time?
Step 2. List of Desired Foods
Write down everything you want to taste but haven't allowed yourself due to restrictions. This is a time to care for yourself, not limit yourself .
Step 3. Weekly Planning (4 Weeks)
For the next month, schedule:
- One activity "just for yourself" per week. Set a specific day and time .
- One desired meal per week. Cook it yourself or enjoy it at a restaurant .
Reflect after 4 weeks. What seems difficult now will become your victory tomorrow.
