Why are some people happier than others? What is happiness? And how can you increase the level of your own happiness and well-being?
Greeting!

From the article you will learn about:
- widespread misconceptions about happiness,
- key components that a person needs to be happy,
- can we hold the feeling of pleasure for long
- why we should not want more, but want less,
- four key habits of happy people.
This information is based on lectures on happiness by Arthur Brooks, an American psychologist and writer, professor at Harvard University and teacher of courses on leadership and happiness.
Have you asked yourself the question: what is happiness for you?
At first glance, we may think that things like money, power, and fame can make us happy. But the results of numerous studies show that they are not the secret of happiness.
Also, we can think that happiness is a pleasant, positive feeling. But this is also not the whole truth. Happy feelings are a sign of happiness: when we experience these pleasant feelings and joy, it is a sign that we are happy. +-
There is a formula for happiness:
Happiness = Contentment + Contentment + Higher Purpose.
[Happiness = Enjoyment + Satisfaction + Purpose.]
I. Pleasure (Enjoyment) = Pleasure + Higher consciousness [pleasure + higher consciousness].
But, I note that pleasure is not reduced only to pleasure.
The limbic system of the brain (LM) produces emotions as a reaction to external stimulating factors, which in turn leads to pleasure.
Contentment leads to happiness because it does not disappear immediately.
In order to get pleasure, it is necessary to move the pleasure (found in the limbic system of GM) to the prefrontal cortex. For this you need to develop your awareness.
For example, a little good music = pleasure, the ability to appreciate beautiful music = pleasure; or eating delicious food = pleasure, being able to enjoy every bite = pleasure.
It is necessary to do things that I understand, together with people that I love - this leads to the development of satisfaction.
II. Satisfaction.
It is a reward for a job well done and achievements.
Satisfaction cannot last long because of such a property of our body as homeostasis. This is the state of equilibrium of the constantly changing environment in which biological processes take place. We cannot be constantly happy or sad, or constantly experiencing feelings of fear, etc., as this would lead to severe exhaustion. Our body protects us from this by gradually balancing our condition. Therefore, a state of rest is normal and natural.
The hedonistic treadmill is a tendency not to understand that satisfaction is fleeting, that it is not permanent. A person does not feel pleasant, bored because the feeling of joy fades away and he starts to chase after everything that can bring him this feeling. This is dangerous because tolerance develops over time - in order to experience the same "amount" of pleasure, a person needs to perceive more and more of something (content, coffee, alcohol, etc.). That is, this may indicate the emergence of addiction.
Contentment decreases as what we have increases because the desire to have more and more increases.
Contentment is not in having more, but in wanting less.
You should manage exactly what you want.
Useful exercise:
Think and write: "What am I doing to want less?"
"We need to learn how to want what we have, not to have what we want in order to get steady and stable happiness" - Dalai Lama.
"We need to learn to want what we have, not to have what we want, in order to achieve permanent and lasting happiness" - Dalai Lama.
III. The meanings of meaning.
Answer these questions:
Coherence
Why do things happen?
Purpose
Why do I live?
Significance
Why does my life matter?
What was I born for?
What would I be willing to die for?
Happiness
Sense
Challenges, difficulties, problems, suffering
Misfortune
It is with the help of understanding the meaning of our own life that we can cope with difficult circumstances and find happiness.
Why are some people happier than others?

Дмитро Телушко, теж в момент щастя)
The following formula can answer this question:
I. Genetic differences:
- some people are just naturally happier than others.
- happy parents give birth to happy children.
However, it is possible to influence the genetic structure with the help of good habits.
II. Circumstances and luck.
Ordinary "bad" and "good" events usually affect us in a short period of time.
We tend to imagine events to be much bigger than they really are.
This is temporary.
We cannot always influence the course of events.
III. Habits matter most.
Habits indirectly affect circumstances and genetics.
4 main habits to develop for sustainable happiness:
Faith (in something greater than ourselves).
Family.
Friends.
Meaningful work.
Reflection:
Am I as happy as I could be?
Am I doing the work to be a happy person?
2.1) if not → develop a plan how I can make my life happier.
3) What is my strategy for wanting less? A strategy to manage my desires.
4) What is my spiritual path?
5) Do I have real friends? Make a list of 10 friends and write in front of each one whether it is a real friend or not.
6) My job: to earn success and help others earn theirs.
7) Teach others what you have learned here. Start today with your family ;)
